As an Elleebana Certified Lash Lift Trainer, she is passionate about bringing high-quality, accessible education to Alaskan estheticians who often face geographical challenges many others do not.

We sat down with Maclaren to learn more about her journey, her love for lash lifts, and what students can expect when training with her in Alaska.

What inspired you to become a lash lift educator after starting your career as an esthetician in Alaska?

“So much of being an esthetician in Alaska is figuring things out on your own. We are very remote and communities have a lot of space in between them. I want to make it easier and more accessible for the estheticians in Alaska to feel more confident in their ability to achieve perfect lash lifts. It’s quite rare to have in-person trainers want to make the long trip up here, so being based in Alaska is a huge plus!”

What makes lash lifts one of your favourite and most popular services to perform and teach?

“Lash lifts are my favorite because they are so unique from treatment to treatment! Each person has their own unique lash type, eye shape, and desired appearance. Figuring out rod and lotion placement, timing, and all the other things that go into a perfect lash lift is my favorite puzzle!

My favorite part about teaching lash lift students is seeing the ‘click’ moment — when all the little pieces start coming together and someone begins building confidence in their new skill!”

What can students expect from an in-person Elleebana lash lift training with you in Alaska?

“My training style is very hands on. I’m a visual learner, and I believe most students learn best when they can be told, shown, and supported. I’m passionate about understanding why things work the way they do, so the science behind products is always a pillar of my trainings.

I love to laugh and have fun — and I absolutely incorporate those parts of myself into my classes!”

How has living and working in Alaska shaped the way you support local lash artists and beauty professionals?

“Alaska has a wonderful culture of free-spirited people who are always looking out for one another and offering a helping hand when needed. Living this remote from the rest of the United States comes with its challenges, but the community reminds us all why we do it!

The beauty community here is growing but still quite small compared to other states. We’re very tight knit and do all we can to support each other.”

What do you find new lash lift students struggle with most, and how do you help them overcome it?

“I’ve found that a lot of students struggle with assessing lash type. Some of the questions I’ll have my students ask if they’re unsure about a client’s lash type are: ‘Is it hard to get your hair to hold a curl?’

I teach all of my students to be highly efficient communicators, even after the consultation step. Open and honest communication can help you avoid so many hiccups you might run into!”

Why did you choose Elleebana as the brand you wanted to educate under, and what sets their lash lift system apart?

“I chose Elleebana for many reasons! Elleebana has been at the top of the industry for decades. Their education and support are easily accessible in so many different forms, helping all types of learners.

Elleebana Lash Lifts prioritise lash health and safety in every treatment — and that’s incredibly important to me.”
